ABC’s consumer awareness TV program Checkout recently did an article on Audiology and hearing clinics in Australia. They discovered how biased parts of the industry can be where it’s not always obvious to the newcomer looking for hearing aids. The article showed companies and brand names who have a bias and made some great points about the pitfalls to look out for.
Did you know:
- Anyone can call themselves an Audiologist
- A large portion of hearing clinics are owned by hearing aid manufacturers or distributors which promote their own products
- Many manufacturers push for commission sales or provide incentives to your supposed “hearing expert” to make the biggest sales regardless of what you need.
