When we have busy professional clients, here at Edgecliff Hearing, we find there are a couple of concerns they have in common. Firstly the need for a discrete hearing aid which their business associates are less likely to notice. Secondly, when the client is time poor, they find taking time out to get a hearing test, assessment, waiting for the order of a custom hearing aid and then taking more time to visit the audiologist to get fitted all can add days, if not weeks, to the process.
When you’ve got a hearing problem that is preventing you from doing your work, time is money and the delay in getting your hearing aid can be much more costly than just the price of the device.
We’ve just had a new hearing aid come in which resolves both of these problems so you can be in and out, working again in no time at all.
It’s called Silk Primax by Sivantos and has a bundle of features which are worth boasting about.
Shhhh, it’s a secret
The Silk hearing aid is tiny enough to fit right inside the ear canal so it’s barely visible from the outside, no skin coloured or shiny clear wires bulging out up around the top of the ear for all the world to see.
Being so tiny, you can’t be expected to pull it out and start pressing buttons to adjust it so Sivantos have designed this hearing aid to be remotely controlled in a number of ways.
- Pre-wear programming – Your Edgecliff Audiologist will test your hearing and program the hearing aid on the spot to match your needs.
- Pocket Remote control – There’s a pocket sized remote control with big easy-to-read buttons you can use for adjustment
- Keyring Remote control – A smaller one with simplified volume and program buttons. These are easy to memorise so you don’t even need to pull it out in front of everybody.
- Smart phone – With free downloadable apps for both iPhone and Android phones you can swap programs, adjust volume and span of focus. Adjusting the span of sound focus is ideal when, for example, you are changing from being at the theatre where you want to hear everything to being in a noisy café just focussed to listening to the person in front of you.
Time is of the essence
When you just don’t have time and need it now, the Silk hearing aid is beautifully designed so you can be fitted by our qualified audiologists on the spot. The Silk Primax uses a clear, disposable, soft silicon sleeve to match your ear shape and size.
Click it into place, push it into the ear canal and you’re back in business.
The technology on such a new device is outstanding as it also connects to Blue Tooth. What does this mean?
- It means you can connect your hearing aid remotely to your smartphone, tablet or other device for phone calls, a Skype call, streaming podcast, FM radio or your favourite music playlist. No need for extra headphones.
- You can use the additional TV transmitter to remotely connect the Silk Primax hearing aid to your television and enjoy your favourite TV shows or movie.
- There’s a companion wireless microphone called VoiceLink you can give to a speaker so it directly streams their voice to your hearing aid – particularly useful in a busy meeting. Also a neck loop antennae with built in microphone on a long necklace which can discretely fit under clothing.
Being new technology we are keen to trial this fabulous new hearing aid.
